Controller

Help Build the Financial Foundation for Our Next Stage of Growth

BioGreen360 Accounting & Finance Leadership Role

We're looking for a driven, hands-on Controller who is excited to build, improve, and scale a best-in-class accounting function.

If you thrive in a fast-paced, constantly evolving startup environment, embrace change, and enjoy creating processes from the ground up while adapting as the business grows, we'd like to meet you.

This role requires someone who is comfortable with ambiguity, agile in their approach, and energized by the opportunity to make a meaningful impact alongside leadership in a rapidly growing organization.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about our mission and excited to make a meaningful impact by helping build a more sustainable world.

This is not a traditional Controller role—it’s an opportunity to shape the financial infrastructure that will support BioGreen360’s future growth.

We are seeking a strong financial leader who can serve as a strategic partner to the leadership team while building scalable processes, driving financial discipline, and providing insights that support informed business decisions.

You’ll lead all aspects of accounting operations, strengthen internal controls, improve financial reporting, and build a high-performing team by hiring and developing one direct report.

What We Do

BioGreen360 is transforming the way the world manages food waste through innovative, waterless, closed-loop technology that converts 100% of food waste into a reusable organic resource.

Our mission is to eliminate food waste from landfills, reduce carbon emissions, and help organizations achieve their sustainability goals by creating a truly circular solution that benefits both business and the environment.

What You'll Do

  • Build, document, and continuously improve accounting processes, procedures, and best practices to support a scalable, high-growth organization.
  • Establish and maintain strong internal controls that ensure financial accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency.
  • Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, delivering timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Develop standardized policies and procedures for all accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets, and general ledger activities.
  • Identify opportunities to automate and streamline workflows, improving efficiency while reducing risk.
  • Partner with executive leadership to provide financial insights, budgeting support, forecasting, and cash flow analysis.
  • Oversee the first financial audit and serve as the primary liaison with external auditors and tax advisors.
  • Evaluate and implement accounting systems and tools that support future growth.
  • Ongoing evaluation of the organization's accounting resource needs and recommend the optimal staffing model—including either full-time, part-time, contract, or outsourced support—to build a scalable, high-performing finance team.
  • Hire, mentor, and develop your direct reports, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • As with any growing startup, this role requires flexibility, adaptability, and a willingness to take on responsibilities beyond those outlined in this job description. The ideal candidate embraces change, approaches challenges with creativity, and is eager to contribute wherever needed to advance the company's mission and support its continued growth and success.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities.
  • Experience in a startup or high-growth environment with a passion for building scalable processes, driving continuous improvement, and rolling up your sleeves to contribute wherever needed.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
  • Experience managing audits and working with external accounting partners.
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks/ERP/accounting systems and advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • A proactive, detail-oriented, and solutions-driven professional with the adaptability, initiative, and resilience to excel in a dynamic, fast-paced startup environment.

What Success Looks Like

In your first year, you will establish a strong financial foundation by creating standardized accounting processes and procedures, implementing best practices and internal controls, improving reporting accuracy and efficiency, developing a high-performing accounting team, and positioning the company for sustainable growth and audit readiness.

Open Position

Assistant Market Manager

Colorado — Greater Denver Area

BioGreen360 Market Operations Full-Time / Hybrid

About BioGreen360

BioGreen360 is an exciting, cutting-edge sustainability technology company solving one of the world's most overlooked problems: food waste.

We deploy advanced biodigester and smart tracking technology for hotels, hospitality groups, and, soon, grocery partners, turning food waste into a measurable, manageable process.

We're growing fast, and we hire people we can grow with. This role offers direct access to senior leadership and the opportunity to shape your own growth path within the company over the next 12–24 months.

The Role

Title: Assistant Market Manager

Location: Greater Denver Area, Colorado (on-site/in-market; local travel required)

Reports to: Regional Market Manager (Denver)

Employment Type: Full-time, Hybrid (in-person/remote)

You'll work directly alongside our Colorado Regional Market Manager to support the day-to-day operations of the Colorado market. This is a customer-facing, technically hands-on role — not a desk job.

You'll build relationships with hotel and hospitality clients, troubleshoot equipment issues, and progressively develop the skills needed to service and repair machines independently.

You'll also gain exposure to sales conversations, client visits, and new client launch and training events, supporting the Regional Market Manager in these activities. Approximately 30% of your time will be dedicated to this support and development.

The long-term goal is straightforward: succeed in this role, take on increasing ownership of the market, and develop toward becoming the Regional Market Manager for Colorado.

What You'll Do

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for BioGreen360 customers throughout the Colorado market, building strong relationships and becoming a trusted resource when something needs attention.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with equipment as they arise.
  • Progressively develop the skills to independently service and repair BioGreen360 machines, with training provided.
  • Support the Regional Market Manager in sales conversations, client visits, and new site launch and training events.
  • Develop the ability to independently manage customer relationships, launches, and sales-related activities over time.
  • Identify recurring equipment issues, customer needs, and market opportunities and communicate them to the broader team.
  • Take on increasing ownership of Colorado market operations as your skills, knowledge, and tenure grow.

What We're Looking For

  • Entrepreneurial mindset — you're comfortable with ambiguity, ownership, and figuring things out rather than waiting for someone to give you the answer.
  • Customer-focused approach — you enjoy working directly with customers, building relationships, and becoming a trusted partner.
  • Comfort with sales-adjacent work — you don't need to consider yourself a salesperson, but you should be comfortable representing the company, participating in sales conversations, and building trust with prospective and existing clients.
  • Mechanical/technical aptitude — an engineering or mechanical background is a plus, but not required if you're naturally inclined and willing to learn hands-on technical skills.
  • Reliability and follow-through — our customers and equipment depend on you, so you need to be someone who follows through and gets things done.
  • Adaptability — you're willing to learn new technology, processes, and skills as the company and market evolve.
  • Local presence — based in or willing to be based in the Greater Denver area.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable personal vehicle — regular local travel between customer sites is required; business mileage is expensed.
  • Physical ability — able to lift and maneuver equipment components as part of machine servicing and field work.

Experience & Education

  • 4+ years of customer-facing or sales experience.
  • Experience working directly with customers in a service, hospitality, sales, operations, or similar environment.
  • Background in technical/engineering, hospitality/food service, or the waste industry is helpful but not required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college education is a plus but not required.

Benefits

  • Standard BioGreen360 benefits, including health insurance and PTO. Specific benefits to be confirmed prior to posting.
  • Business mileage is expensed.

What Success Looks Like

  • Customers know they can rely on you for responsive, professional, and dependable support.
  • You're increasingly able to diagnose and resolve equipment issues independently.
  • You develop a strong understanding of the Colorado customer base and market operations.
  • You're comfortable representing BioGreen360 in customer, sales, and planning conversations.
  • You're consistently taking on more responsibility and demonstrating the ability to manage market activities independently.
  • You're developing the technical, customer, and business skills needed to step into the Regional Market Manager role.

Growth Path

This role is intentionally designed as a growth track within BioGreen360.

As you demonstrate success, you'll take on progressively greater responsibility for the Colorado market — from customer relationships and equipment service to market operations, sales support, and client launches.

High performers can expect a defined path toward the Regional Market Manager role within approximately 12–24 months. You'll also have direct visibility and access to senior leadership, giving you the opportunity to make an impact beyond your immediate responsibilities and help shape the growth of the Colorado market.

You will report directly to the Controller and help build scalable, data-driven accounting processes as we grow. We are looking for someone who is passionate about our mission and excited to make a meaningful impact by helping build a more sustainable world.

This is not a traditional Staff Accountant role—it’s an opportunity to shape the financial infrastructure that will support BioGreen360’s future growth.

We are seeking an adaptable team member who is eager to learn, actively support an initial audit, and author clear process documents and standard workflows.

While you will start by maximizing our current QuickBooks environment, you will also play a key role in supporting our eventual transition to a more robust, enterprise-level ERP accounting system.

Over time, you will continuously audit our processes to establish workflow efficiencies that save time and eliminate friction across the organization.

  • Manage the full AP cycle, including verifying vendor invoices, coding expenses to correct budget categories, and preparing weekly payment runs.
  • Own the end-to-end billing process, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant customer invoicing.
  • Proactively monitor aging reports, contact overdue accounts, and resolve billing discrepancies to optimize startup cash flow.
  • Maintain the integrity of the general ledger with daily data entry, automated bank feeds, and credit card reconciliations.
  • Update and maintain Budget vs. Actual spreadsheets or dashboards to ensure real-time visibility into departmental spend.
  • Flag unexpected budget variances to leadership by cross-referencing QuickBooks data against company financial models.
  • Assist the Controller with the monthly closing process by preparing journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations under tight timelines.
  • Audit employee expense reports and corporate card usage to ensure accurate department and class tagging.

  • Bring 2–4 years of professional accounting experience with a heavy emphasis on transactional workflows, collections, and budget tracking.
  • Demonstrate expert-level, hands-on proficiency with QuickBooks Online to manage daily financial operations. Experience with other accounting software packages is a bonus.
  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related business field.
  • Utilize advanced Excel and Google Sheets skills, including pivot tables and XLOOKUP, alongside familiarity with tools like Gusto.
  • Communicate excellently both verbally and in writing to manage firm yet professional collection conversations with customers.
  • Apply a strong attention to detail and analytical mindset to quickly identify discrepancies between operational spend and financial budgets.

What Success Looks Like

Success in your first year means establishing yourself as a vital partner to the Controller by building efficient accounting processes and implementing operational best practices.

You will drive cash flow efficiency by working closely with employees across the organization to collect all necessary bills, expenses, invoices, and contracts in a timely manner.

By eliminating transactional delays and keeping our data pristine, you will provide the leadership team with total confidence in our financial reporting and help the startup scale smoothly.
